Home Town Sounds
Home Town Sounds is hosted by Scott Johnson, the owner
of Northwoods Music and promoter of the Northwoods Music
Festival. Scott has been involved in the local music scene for
the past 14 years as a singer-songwriter and as a private guitar
teacher. Scott is also the music critic for the Superior
Telegram. In 2008 Home Town Sounds evolved out of the idea that
the area was in need of public format for local and regional
performers to be heard on a regular basis. The music business is
extremely competitive, and the opportunities to show case local
talent is limited. The Twin Ports is rich with music artists,
and the need for Home Town Sounds became evident.
The show has become a mix of live performances, music item give-aways,
editorials of the local music scene and our community. Call-ins
are often welcome as everything ads to the excitement of a live
radio show. In 2010 Kyle Melhem joined the show on a part-time
basis. Kyle is the owner of Culver's restaurants and a local
music enthusiast. He has also performed as the MC for the
Northwoods Music festival in 2010 and 2011.
Scott and Kyle are promoters of all of the local performing arts
establishments. The show endorses family freindly environments
with a strong focus on independent folk artists. Recordings from
Home Town Sounds appears all over Face Book and on musician's
individual websites. It has become the sounding board for new
artists as well as established personalities.
The show airs live on Saturdays from 3-4pm
