Evelyn

How can you love someone you have never met? Our oldest son Travus fell in love in a long distance romance. He chatted on line in a chat room to a young lady named Amber for three years.  They used Skype to actually see each other via technology. When he decided to meet her face to face, I heard the Lord say to me, “He is going to ask her to marry him.” I thought really? Really he’s going to ask someone he has never met face to face to marry him? He had built a relationship on conversation and I found out our youngest son Tylor was also chatting on line and he had also chatted with Amber. Being a Mom I was concerned because there is so much stuff out there that could get one into trouble, I said to Travus, “How do you know that this isn’t some crazy person or some sick guy behind this?” He just looked at me like a young adult does, probably thinking, “Mom you don’t have a clue!” He did ask her to marry him and she has been a wonderful wife and mother.  It was his first time meeting her face to face while alone with her, he asked the question, “Will you marry me?”   As a Mom, I had our preacher friend from Indiana, Greg Patten, go with to meet the family to be sure this was on the up and up. You have to cover the bases to protect your kids. Once a Mom always a Mom!
I have been a very fortunate person. Twice in my life I have been given two Spiritual Moms. The first was a lady named Ann Bachman.  She would call me and we’d pray together, laugh together and I’m not sure about crying together, but our shared times were wonderful.   Once she called and said, “Jackie, come to my home I have something I want to give you.  That day I also met two of her daughters, which I’m sure they didn’t want a stranger to them, visiting with their Mom. Ann and I chatted like we had done so many times on the phone. She then presented me with a ceramic Dove  which she had painted and another piece, of Jesus standing knocking at the door. These two pieces of which Ann had painted are still in our home today and every time I look at them I think of her. She is now home with our Dad, Our Heavenly Father. Someday we shall meet again. I lost my Mom Lillian when I was almost thirteen but God had given me a stepmother, Josette, when my Dad remarried.  As I said, He also gave me two Spiritual Moms.
Evelyn, my second Spiritual Mom, of whom I’ve never met, just went home to be with Dad on February 19, 2014. We have caller I.D. and I saw her name Evelyn Holte, so I said, “Hello Evelyn!” It wasn’t her voice, but did sound a bit like her. It was her daughter Paula letting me know her Mom had passed away that very morning.  Ted and Tylor had met Evelyn, but I hadn’t. She had been a friend of our family and the radio ministry for many years. The first time Ted and Tylor met her, she brought out a wooden wishing well and some other items for the lawn as a gift. Ron and Marcie received the well and we took the bird feeder. Many calls came over the years from Evelyn. She knew our kids and our grand-kids and prayed for the whole family and the ministry. A week before she went home she called about some jobs Ted could possibly take as she knew our time at WWJC was drawing to a close. Like a Mom, she cared for so many and I know she helped others out. She was a Sunday school teacher, she opened her heart to children who needed foster care and if someone she knew needed help, she was right there. Evelyn, I never met you personally but I fell in love with my Spiritual Mom. Like a Mom she would call the radio station and talk to Ted, then too she would call our home and talk to me. She felt at one time that our oldest needed to know how much he was loved so she sent him a card and a gift for the family.
Can we love someone we’ve never met? Yes! I have never met Jesus face to face, but I have fallen in love with Him. Evelyn lived like a loving Mom, she lived the love of Jesus flowing out from her. She gave her all in everything she did and that is what our Savior did. He gave it all! It was for that purpose that WWJC radio began so many years ago. To bring the message of extreme love, love the Father gave when He gave HIS ONLY SON! Extreme and Extravagant love! Father, knew His son would rise again and make a way for all who would come to him. He would make himself known to us if we would seek Him and have fellowship with Him. That is love knowing without seeing, believing in the one true God! That is what WWJC has been about and we will continue doing even though we will not be in studio talking to you over the airwaves. We may be and maybe have been talking to you in the market place. He is searching for His beloved, find Him while He may be found.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles: they shall run, and not be weary: and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31
Wait upon Him, He promises to never leave you or forsake you. He is your forever friend and for now friends until we see Him and you face to face, may His overwhelming love wrap around you.
We thank each and every one of you whom we have met and those we have not met for being a part of the Ministry of WWJC radio.  We will for sure see you when we celebrate our banquet dinner with our King and on into eternity. Many, Many Blessings!

Sincerely,
Jackie Elm

Manager's Letter

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4.

This could very well be my last correspondence to our radio family.

As you all know WWJC has been going through financial struggles for a very long time. Over the past decade we have cut our expenses to the bare minimum. Yet in today's economy and ever increasing competition, our income has not kept pace with expenses. As a result, last spring the board of directors felt the only viable option was to to sell WWJC radio. Last month negotiations began with a Christian broadcaster to purchase WWJC. Since then we have agreed on terms. The transfer of the broadcast license to the buyer is in the hands of the Federal Communications Commission for their approval. Once granted the buyer will become the new owner of WWJC radio.

This decision to sell did not come lightly. It was the most difficult decision I have made as station manager, but was the only realistic option available. We hoped and prayed that WWJC would continue into our next half century, but that was not to be.

I sincerely appreciate all of you who have supported WWJC radio with your prayers and finances. It was you who kept the vital ministry of WWJC on the air for almost 51 years. Please continue to pray for us during this transition. Also your financial help would be greatly appreciated until the transfer of ownership takes place.

In His Service,
Ted Elm
